Tariffs on Milgard Windows & Doors

Will Milgard Windows & Doors be affected by the new tariffs?

I just got off the phone with Milgard Windows and according to my source Milgard is determining how they are going address the tariffs should they be enacted. 

Milgard Windows & Doors uses a limited number of components to make their windows that are made in other counties. That being said, Milgard Windows is owned by MITER Brands which also owns other vinyl and aluminum window companies. 

These companies do have a larger number of components for their products that come from other countries.  My best guess is that MITER will take use Milgard to absorb the tariffs generated by their other companies. And Milgard could see tariffs on products that have components from Canada or Mexico.

We advise our customers that want to order Milgard and are holding off due to quick lead times to order the product now and we can push out the delivery dates by up to 2 months. The only issue is that there cannot be any changes because once an order is in then it cannot be changed or cancelled.

Seven years ago there were tariffs placed on products coming from China. This is figured into current Milgard Window pricing and is insignificant.  For a window it’s less than $2.00 per window and roughly $10.00 per door.

These tariffs are not on the products announced this morning but that can change at any time.
