We purchased a total of 32 Milgard Tuscany windows (pictures, double hung, single hung, sliders, etc) from 1stwindows for our new home and they are excellent. Truthfully we struggled a bit between Milgard and Atrium but Milgard won out on both quality and cost and we have never regretted our decision for one minute. They look great, provide excellent insulation and operate with the same degree of ease two years after installation as they did the day they were installed. I had 2 milgard windows fail after 4 years - one \naturally\", the other from a foreign object. Both were able to be replaced in a short period of time. The only \"ding\" I have is the screen was not put back on the 2nd story window after it was done. Fortunately thanks to the good engineering design (style line) . I called milgard window service dept and spoke to the nicest most patient man. He got my address and had all my information in his system. We went over each window and set up a date for his guys to come out to replace some defective windows. Today the windows were replaced and I am very happy. I can see clearly again. We purchased a variety of Milgard Tuscany windows for our new home. The single hung and awning windows work great. However, the double hung windows are a bit of challenge to close. The mechanism that holds the upper window in place is a cheap spring steel clip. The quality control of this mechanism is extremely variable; it works great on some windows but on others it's either very difficult to lower the upper window or the upper window slips down while trying to close the lower window preventing it from locking. The lifetime warranty, including glass breakage, is a wonderful feature for anyone living on a golf course :) They are also very energy efficient which is a good feature for us since we live in a cold climate in the Colorado mountains.
