Velux Skylights Many people have been calling and asking me to write an article about Velux Skylight. Velux in my opinion is one of the best skylights made. I installed my first Velux skylight in 1988. Velux has really thought out the flashing systems. The deck mount skylights do not leak as long as you use the Velux flashing system. Velux even warranties against perimeter leaks if you use their system. The Velux "Ventilating Skylights Electric" (VSE) is my favorite skylight. In my opinion you always want to put the Velux VSE at the highest point in the room and if possible the highest point of your house since warm air will always find its way to the highest point in the house. The Velux VSE has a rain sensor that will automatically shut the skylight when it senses rain and it works well. The only problem that could arise is if there is a power outage. Then you Velux VSE is stuck open and can be shut manually however it takes some effort. The Velux VSE comes with a wireless remote control. It can operate many skylights individual as well as all at the same time. The Velux remote can open the skylights and close the skylights all at one time or open and close them incrementally. The Velux VSE can be use a hard wired keypad however I do not recommend it. I will write more articles on Velux Skylights in the next coming weeks. I will focus on the Velux self flashing skylights and then building up multiple Velux skylight systems. Douglas Lopez
